Mugwort, also known as “Wormwood” or “Felon Herb,” is a bold and ancient plant long associated with protection, purification, and heightened awareness. It has been revered and included in both medicinal and spiritual traditions for centuries, as an ally for cleansing, boundary-setting, and deepening insights.

Bitter and gently stimulating, Mugwort carries anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and anti-parasitic properties that have historically made it a trusted plant for both internal and external purification. In herbal practice, it may support healthy digestion, encourage gut motility, and help regulate menstrual flow. Its warming, activating nature has often been called upon to move stagnation within the body, supporting circulation, elimination, and the release of what no longer serves.

Energetically, Mugwort is widely known as a visionary herb. It is often used to enhance vivid or lucid dreaming, support dream recall, and deepen access to intuitive or psychic states. Herbalists and spiritual practitioners alike turn to Mugwort to help clear energetic blocks, promote spiritual alignment, and support healing on emotional and energetic levels. By strengthening the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind, Mugwort invites insight, remembrance, and deeper self-trust.

Because of its stimulating and perceptual qualities, Mugwort is best approached with respect and discernment. While it is not considered a hallucinogen, it does contain naturally occurring compounds that may feel psychoactive or sensitizing for some individuals—especially in larger amounts or with frequent use. For this reason, Mugwort is traditionally used in modest doses and is not recommended for everyone.

Whether enjoyed as a tea, infused into baths, or incorporated into ritual blends, Mugwort offers both grounded protection and subtle expansion of awareness. When used intentionally and responsibly, it invites clarity, deeper listening, and a more conscious relationship with the unseen currents that shape our inner and outer worlds.
